HPL Cold frames are traditionally made from solid timber with a
rustic look which is extremely popular in the gardening
communities.

Being made from quality timber has the major
advantage of the frame absorbing heat during the day and slowly
releasing it in colder conditions.
Our timber is pressure treated for longer life and
is environmentally preferred to dipping and removes the need for
applying plant harmful preservatives later, which can be harmful to
plants. Our cold frames are therefore suitable for Organic
Gardening

Polycarbonate twinwall sheet provides the main part of the lid.
This material is stronger and safer than glass, weather
resistant and provides excellent heat insulation. In
addition, the high level of light penetration and diffusion effect
of the material help plant growth without increasing scorching
risk. Hinge pins quickly pop out to enable easy lid
removal. The lid is simple to open with one hand,
is sloped to gain maximum light and water run off, has aluminium
reinforcements and the front lip is designed to ensure water runs
off completely.
Our coldframes are supplied in KD form to minimise transport
costs, but can be assembled without any tools. Not even
a screwdriver is required - all fixings are plated bolts and wing
nuts.
YEAR ROUND USE
HPL Cold frames are ideal for year round use. Spring time
is, of course, the time for hardening off seedlings and young
plants. In warmer weather (late Spring/Summer) tender salad
plants and cuttings are ideally developed in our cold frames, while
Autumn and winter gardeners will find them a safe haven for
semi-hardy perennials as well as extending the home grown salad
season as far as possible into the colder times.
